about

ITO RANUCCI

Neapolitan composer, arranger, saxophonist, he produces music based on a dense network of extra-musical, biographical, literary, pictorial references, treated in such a way as to raise the musical composition to a poetic-philosophical rank. He is considered today among the greatest exponents of the Italian "World" scene, as well as among the most eclectic composers of the new generation.
Very active in the world of soundtracks for cinema and theater: his song "Cala 'a sera" is part of the soundtrack of Mario Monicelli's latest film "The desert roses", with Michele Placido, Giorgio Pasotti, Alessandro Haber and was selected for the CD-book dedicated to Mario Monicelli, a tribute to the career of the master of cinema, in a selection of 20 of the most beautiful music of his approximately 100 films. He collaborates with the playwright director Renato Giordano in large productions such as the Satyricon, theatrical representation in music of the text of Petronio Arbiter, with protagonists Giorgio Albertazzi, Michele Placido and Maria Letizia Gorga, and in Amore e Psiche, theatrical representation in music of the text of Apuleio with Peppe Barra and André DeLaRoche.
The album The garden of delights (CNI / RaiTrade 2006) reworking in a contemporary / urban key of the concept of "scheduled music" (inspired by the work of Hieronymus Bosch), with which he immediately gets the admiration of critics and staff works, is the tangible testimony of his innovative and visionary language.
In 2013 he made the soundtrack of the film Ero un Re by Antonio Longo (winner of the Naples Film Festival).
His latest album KTC - Killing The Classics, released by CNI in the autumn of 2014, was officially presented in Naples in December 2014 as part of the ANGELI MUSICANTI exhibition at the Teatro Mercadante, and at AMSTERDAM in the 4 concerts at PIANOLA MUSEUM, ZAAL 100, SPLENDOR, Italian Cultural Institute of Amsterdam.
In 2015 he created the soundtrack for the theater show QUANTUM, by Caravan Teatro.
In 2016 he made the soundtrack of the film "CAINA" by Stefano Amatucci, in competition at the TALLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2016
